Miekkala is from the year 1730 and nowadays operates as a
Bed & Breakfast in Partala, 10 km from the center of
Lappeenranta towards Imatra.
Miekkala has in all 80 places and during summer they can
receive total 100 customers.

Festival Occasions

We arrange different kinds of festive occasions for our
customers which they have subscribed. For excample different
kindsof family celebrations; weddings, birthdays,
christening ceremonies

We prepare traditional food in the traditional way.

We prepare food in an old-fashioned stone oven,
like the roast of  Karelia,the Särä, roast, salmon, potato -
and rutabaga casserole and much more in traditional way of
Miekkala. And with these, home made non-alcoholic beer,
Partala's unleavened bread and top of it all: perfectly delicious
cake and coffee.
We also have licence to sell alcholic drinks.

We have in all 80 customer places and during summer
we can receive totalof 100 customer places. During
summer we have two inner terraces and a patio.

Bed and Breakfast

Miekkala offers accommodation for in all 37 person.
All the roomsare equipted with standart furnishing, television,
bedding and towels.
Upstairs of the main building are 2 double rooms, one room for
four person and a single room. A small kitchen, a toilet and
a showerare in common use in upstairs. In the courtyard there is also
The Upperhouse which is renovated in 2002. In the Upperhouse
there is space about 100 m²

.Also in the courtyard there is a new 120m² Luhtihouse, builded in June
2002.

In the Luhtihouse are in all 8 double rooms.And of course a toilet
and a shower in common use in both floors.

In the Upperhouse are 3 bedrooms and in common use
a kitchen, a toilet, a shower and a sauna.

Conferenses

For companies and groups we offerconferences-,
meeting- and training packetswith meals. Groups size can
be up to 40 persons.

overhead projector,white board, 1 extra space for team work

Sauna

We arrange sauna occasions for different kinds of groups.
In our sauna place has room for 10-15 people at the time.

You can enjoy soft heat in the wood headed sauna

and afterward take delight in having some refreshments in
the fire room.

History

The history of Miekkala begins in year 1713, when
Miekkalawas established in the small city of Ranua.
The records of Miekkala date
back to the time when Finland was still a part of Sweden.
Main building was built after the year 1759.
Miekkala got its name after Risto Miekka, who was a
swordmanin the troops of king of Sweden. Risto Miekka was
also the master of Miekkala.

20th of June,1980 Sirkka-Liisa Raatikainen (former mistress
of Miekkala) travelledwith her family to an auction in Ranua,
where Miekkala was sold for 3600 FIM.
After that they marked the logs and transported them to
Lappeenranta.
In Lappeenranta they established the new Miekkala. The
family Raatikainen lived in upstairs of the main building
and created the restaurant in downstairs

The first traditional fest was held in Miekkala 10th of
November 1985 .

From that time they have served traditional food and bed
& breakfast services.
